October 2026
On-chain statement
What it cost to trade tokenized US stocks on public blockchains in October 2026, chain by chain and issuer by issuer, and how much could be sold before the price fell. Worked out from each pool’s own state on the chain; nothing traded.

Each stock at its cheapest pool on Solana, Robinhood Chain, Base or BNB Chain, every 15 minutes.
The cost index for the month: the median of its 20 days with a number. 1 bp is 0.01%: on $10,000, 10 bp is $10. Each day: the cost index.
Base: our readings from 18 October 00:00 to 26 October 23:00 are left out everywhere on this page. On those days we did not read the new pools that opened on Base, so its numbers would be wrong (see Corrections). From 26 October 23:00 we read them.
By chain
A $10,000 round trip, each stock at its cheapest pool on the chain in each 15-minute reading; the medians of the month. The ten: the cost index’s own ten stocks and funds. All: every stock token we read there, many of them thin and rarely traded. Only pools whose own price moved count, as in the cost index.

Cheapest most often: of the readings in which all four chains were read and a stock traded on two or more of them, the share in which each chain had its cheapest round trip
Depth to 2%: what could be sold before the price fell 2%. For each stock, its counted pools on the chain together, at the month’s median reading; the chain’s figure adds up all its stocks, not only the ten.
By issuer
Under each issuer, the chains its tokens trade on. The same $10,000 round trip, each token at its cheapest pool. A dash: none of the ten had a pool that counts from that issuer.

Events of the month
- Mon 12 Oct: Our public record starts: the first day on which the pools we read on all four chains can count in the cost index (Solana’s pool prices are recorded from 11 October, and a pool counts only once its own price has moved).
- Fri 16 Oct: On Base (from 14:15 UTC), on Robinhood Chain (19:15) and on Solana (19:15, and again at 23:15), four or more stocks at once fell under half their usual depth to 2% (their median of the 24 hours before); each time it was back within one to two hours, by our 15-minute readings.
- Thu 22 Oct: The main exchange on Base stopped paying rewards (extra tokens for those who supply a pool’s liquidity) on its old pools; by 26 October its new pools held most of the liquidity. We read the new pools from 26 October 23:00.
- Tue 27 Oct: The first day of the cost index published the next morning, as every day since. The days from 12 October were worked out afterwards, on 27 October, from readings recorded at the time.
Coverage
| Chain | Readings | Pools with a cost | Longest gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solana | 1,915 | 86 | 1.5 h |
| Robinhood Chain | 1,916 | 149 | 1.5 h |
| Base | 1,061 | 73 | 0.3 h |
| BNB Chain | 1,916 | 33 | 1.5 h |
Longest gap: the longest time between two of our readings of the chain in the month (on Base, not counting the days left out). Costs and depth are for the pools we read: other pools of the same tokens, and venues that do not price from a pool of their own, are not in these numbers.
In the pools we read, depth fell in the second half of October. Outside Base, the dollars that could be sold within 2% fell 31% from the week of 12 October to the week of 27 October, in three steps (14, 22 and 29-30 October). On Robinhood Chain, the typical token's cheapest $10,000 round trip in these pools rose from 1.7% to 2.4% between those weeks, and was 3.3% on 30 October. On Base, new pools now hold most of the liquidity.
The cost index figures at the top are the one exception to the Base note: they cover every day of October with a number, 18 to 26 October included, as worked out afterwards from the chain’s own records and shown on the cost index page. The chain and issuer sections leave out Base’s readings from those days.
